Kununurra troubadour and for last 11 years the resident musician at the iconic El Questro Resort in the East Kimberley – Chris Matthews has a sound and beaming personality that has been supremely shaped and moulded by his stunning surrounds and a life on the road.

His new recording Hell West & Crooked is an indicative collection of his favourites, original songs and instrumentals that have a distinct flavour and fingerprint. From his perky, positive vocals – accompanied only with an acoustic guitar, foot-stomp and a blistering right hand – Chris has captured the spirit and essence of his solo live shows – that he performs to captivated audiences, 6 nights a week for 6 months of the year – the rest of the year is spent circumnavigating the highways and bi-ways of Australia playing in a wide array of bar’s, festivals and backyards. The stories he absorbs along the way have found their way into his music and in this latest offering Hell West & Crooked – beautiful songs like The Devil Down Below, Change In The Weather or frantic songs like Richard Thompsons The 1952 Vincent Black Lightning – will make a great road companion.
