Issue 78 – OUT NOW!

cntryupdate_FRONTCOVER#78_OPT

Greetings!

I am sure everyone is looking forward to thawing out with the onset of Spring as I am!

Always my favourite time of year with a string of festivals ahead in future months – check them out in Festivals/Events section. The Gympie Muster is first off the rank, followed by Mildura, Deni Ute Muster etc and there are several new ones starting out, including the big country roots extravaganza at Murwillumbah, Dashville in the Hunter Valley, and an extra Out On The Weekend debuting at historic Bella Vista farm as a prelude to the Sydney Country Music festival the following weekend at the same venue.

All of these events boast a brilliant offering of high-calibre Australian artists – some exclusively, and others welcoming a wing of international Americana exponents to titivate the most fastidious musical tastes! And speaking of internationals – what about the lineup announced for CMC next year?!

And if there isn’t enough gold-standard entertainment for you on dry land you can still join half of the industry’s top performers on the high seas and go Country Cruisin’! The ultimate eight day carefree getaway, with every indulgence at your whim and fancy.

There is an abundance of outstanding CDs to check out according to your preference, as we preview all that is new or about to be – I particularly loved the Ashley Monroe, Laura Bell Bundy, Jason Isbell, James Taylor (sneaky pleasure!) and keep an ear out for Mo Pitney who is yet to be released here but has a voice to die for, …and Shane Nicholson’s album is pure nectar for the auditory olfactory organs! Tamworth songstress Ashleigh Dallas delivers another super disc in her inimitable style, and Drew McAlister steps back into the arena with his first solo album since the disbanding of McAlister Kemp.

Shrug off the Winter blues, get your country mojo kick started and see you somewhere soon!

Kind Regards, Denise
