JUSTIN BERNISCONI

BAREFOOT WONDERLAND

Justin Bernasconi is considered a rarity among guitarists and songwriters. Straddling styles and sounds from the Delta Blues, Appalachian Bluegrass, English Folk and all stops in between, his highly original tunes, are infused with exciting and soulful guitar playing.

The album opens with ‘Speed Camera’, which is the true story how Bernasconi’s partner was hit by a car whilst riding her pushbike. She escapes serious injury, but the event gives cause for re-evaluation, as their parents advise them to get a ‘speed camera on your busy life’.

His band performs on the next three tracks – ‘Zeeha’s Party Picnic’, a sonic image of his Parson’s Terrier reeking havoc on innocent picnickers, ‘Puppy Blues’, and ‘Carrie Swoon’.

The latter half of the album, Bernasconi performs solo, and tackles his crippling battles with insomnia, chronic fatigue, depression and recurrent nightmares in ‘Careless Shells’ and ‘Melatonin.’

“His style oozes atmosphere…There’s something appealing when music is stripped down to its barest essentials, and particularly when it’s as well executed as this” Guitar Techniques (UK) – raved with four stars. While Aust Guitar Magazine claimed Justin as one of this country’s most interesting acoustic guitar talents showcasing his mastery of a wide variety of styles both technically and compositionally.”
