Perth author Loretta Hill loves writing about her home state. Her first three books were set in the arid red soil of the Pilbara, where she spent years working on construction sites as an engineer. Her recent novels have shifted focus to the sprawling wine country of the South-West, where she has family. This book looks at what being a parent means: particularly, how hard it is to be a mother and how desperate it can get at times, plus explores how parents are always striving for better for their children, and the personal battles and constant sacrifices they make in order to do so.
