ort Macquarie-born, Tamworth-based Aleyce Simmonds has tasted more than her share of triumphs and tribulations since claiming the Telstra Road to Tamworth title in 2004, at the tender age of 17.
In the decade-and-a-half since, Simmonds’ tireless commitment to her art and craft has led her from strength to strength across three albums and countless awards and nominations. Through it all, Simmonds’ songs have always been imbued with her unique gift for communicating those thoughts and feelings that most move her – articulating, in the process, those often painful, all too human experiences we all share on the road from our first guitar, first car, first pen or paintbrush into adulthood.
When Country Update spoke with Simmonds in November, the inexhaustible singer-songwriter was busy juggling her working week with the exciting business of releasing new music, ahead of the launch of stunning fourth album Here and Now.
