Issue 73

Hi and welcome to Winter – and didn’t it arrive with an unwelcome abruptness!

The temperature dropped about ten degrees overnight here the first week of May – no small shock to the system! Before that, thankfully there was some long-overdue lovely rain and after good follow up falls, all around is green and lush.

I hope the same applies to your region but sadly still some areas pitifully dry, I know.

It has been an exciting month here at CU HQ as our family welcomed a new grandson, Max, who is thriving and being very gentle with his parents-sleeping well and being cute as a button.

This is definitely the issue of eminent singer songwriters including interviews with Graeme Connors, Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris and Harmony James plus new records from Adam Brand, The McClymonts, Harry Hookey, Miranda Lambert, Sandra Humphries and some excellent in-depth stories about all of them, and a lot more – introducing and profiling emerging newcomers and keeping you updated on longstanding favourites.

Check out the Prizes page for treats like Gympie Muster tickets, DVDs and one hundred Adam Eckersley Band CDs to give away to new subscribers.

Thank you for the great feedback on the last issue, and glad to hear so many of you enjoyed the featured stories – it seems Luke O’Shea is a popular pin-up boy! Also lots of positive emails about the longer stories and the photo spread. See inside for photos from CMC Rocks the Hunter which was a fantastic weekend enjoyed by a bumper crowd. And nothing but rave reports about Byron Bay Bluesfest, Deni Blues and Urban CM Festival all of which continue to attract good attendance with stellar lineups.

We extend a sincere ‘get well soon’ to our dear friend and columnist Kim Cheshire who recently suffered a heart attack and is now recuperating at home after surgery for a stent.

Look forward to new releases due from Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and several top Australian stars later this quarter.
